About The Job Market
The Job Market has 5 central locations where job seekers and employers can access the support and services of over 30 collaborative partners, whose three main focal points are workforce preparation, economic development and School-to-Career. The Job Market began as part of the Workforce Investment Act (WIA), a federal law that took effect in July, 2000, and which calls for counties receiving WIA funds to establish "One-Stop" agencies in their communities. The Job Market, Humboldt County's "One-Stop," has been open since early 1999. Staff are drawn from some of the one-stop partners, including among others North Coast Veterans Resource Center; CalWORKS; Employment Training Division; Employment Development Department; Eureka Adult School; Experience Works; Job Corps; California Conservation Corp.
